Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (T4K)
Up to date information via the Monona Grove School District 4K program can be found here.

What is Four-Year-Old Kindergarten?
Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) is a voluntary child development program for ALL four-year-olds as of September 1st in ALL participating districts prior to entering Kindergarten. The Four-Year-Old Kindergarten does not take the place of Kindergarten.

What is the cost of the Four-Year-Old Kindergarten ?
There is no cost to families residing in the Monona Grove School District, because of the Monona Grove collaboration with IHM. We need to charge tuition for students who reside in a district other than Monona Grove. That amount is $2500 for the 2014-15 school year with $250 in fees. IHM uses SmartTuition for fees including wraparound care, lunch and field trip costs.

What is Open Enrollment?
Residents of districts with 4K programs (including Madison) may be able to apply for Open Enrollment for Monona Grove, and request IHM as your preferred site. If you are accepted for open enrollment, you do not need to pay tuition for IHM 4K.

What hours and days of the week are classes held?
The program will be offered at Immaculate Heart of Mary School five days a week, Monday through Friday. There is an AM session and a PM session. IHM follows the same calendar as Monona Grove for the 4K program.

Who teaches the classes?
Classes are taught by highly qualified, licensed teachers who are certified by the Department of Public Instruction to teach Early Childhood Education. A teacher’s aide assists in the classroom as well.

What is the teacher/student ratio?
There is a maximum of 18 students per session, so the teacher/student ratio is at most 1 teacher per 9 students.

What about extended (or wrap-around) care?
Extended care is offered for children attending the both sessions at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Children in the morning class are eligible for extended care 10:40 AM until 5:30 PM, while children in the afternoon session are eligible after school from 3:00 until 5:30. The extended day program has an additional fee, based on which option you choose.

Is a lunch program offered?
The extended day program offers a daily Hot Lunch. Hot Lunches are paid through SmartTuition.

Is transportation available?
Bus transportation is provided for Monona residents only. There is no transportation available for students that do not live in Monona.

Is religious instruction offered?
Yes, religious instruction is an optional program that will be taught outside of the Four-Year-Old Kindergarten instruction time.

What other special classes are offered?
The Four-Year-Old Program curriculum will include Physical Education, Library, and Music taught by licensed teachers.
